ECS Racers Peter Meringolo and Smokin’ Joe Tirado made the trip south to Daytona for the CCS Race of Champions. It’s a long haul to get down there and we’d like to thank Pete, Joe, and their families for the extra effort and taking the ECS name to the Race of Champions.
The last round of the regular season saw good weather and great racing at our home track at NJMP. We love racing here, and we are all so grateful for everyone’s support. All our friends and family, our dedicated sponsors, and Steve, JP, and Sean for bringing the ECS Racing team to life again for the second straight year.
Due to weather and racers who hate using keyboards we’ve skipped Round 5 - which was mostly rained out - and have an abbreviated Round 6 report from Summit Point.
We were a whole team, except for Pete, who was stuck at home defending against a hurricane. Overall though, the weekend was spectacular and even though Saturday was soaking wet everyone went super fast and had a great time.

We returned to NJMP as a team that was tried, true, and united. Everybody brought their absolute A game to the track this weekend, and everybody rode as hard and fought harder than ever before. AND, it didn’t rain. We also saw some improvements in equipment - riders and crew working together to get the bikes dialed in a bit tighter here, and a bit steeper there. One of us totaled a bike, but as it was on Friday, we’ll just say it didn’t count…
Planet Loudon…
We come in peace…
We traveled to New Hampshire for the 88th running of the Loudon Classic and witness one of the most spectacular motor sports events that you can find in this part of the world. Pete Meringolo couldn’t be with us, but Ian, Matt, Val, Dave and Joe tore it up and for the first and probably last time the entire gang of them gridded up in the same race… thanks to some Loudon magic of course. JP was there as usual making us all go faster and Steve and Tina were able to make the trip up which is a real treat at a big weekend like this.
Round two of the CCS Atlantic Championship brought the team to Summit Point. Somehow being in West Virginia always brings good times, and good racing as well. The long drive saw us all in trucks, vans, and trailers, traveling through the day, and through the night. Friday morning broke to find us all there, glad to see each other, and ready to race.
But first we had to re-sticker all the crashed bikes from last weekend…

Well folks, this one was a race weekend for the books. Friday practice went relatively smoothly including the first ever ECS Racing endurance race, but Saturday morning brought clouds and rain which helped to create a growing pile of wadded up Italian race bikes - four were totaled for the weekend, and one we got back on track for a couple race wins.
There were great highlights though - Pete took his first expert win and kept right on winning, Ian won two on Saturday, Matt took his first win as an amateur on Sunday, Val got his hands dirty as a racer, and was instantly fast.

The rain kept coming and going requiring many tire/wheel changes to be on the correct rubber in addition to setting the suspension up for wet or dry. Our European Cycle Services brother, J.P Wallace, kept the team focused, and moving quickly to make all the changes and keep the bikes on the grid and ready to go. We also had Steve with us for the Sunday races - which was a huge help as they were the busiest in terms of setup and bike prep. Throughout wins and crashes, everyone really pulled together and laid down an excellent set of results for the first round. A big thank you as well to Markbilt for welding Pete’s exhaust overnight for us!

It was a long winter. Very long. But spring has graced us with a dry track, fresh rubber, and a serious need for speed. This past weekend the team made it to Thunderbolt raceway at NJMP for a day of testing. Here’s what the guys had to say:

This was the final round for the CCS Atlantic Championship and all of us riders, crew and fans were on pins and needles as we drove down to New Jersey. We arrived at the gates to find once again that the policies and prices were different (at least they are consistent in their inconsistency) and we got down to setting up what turned into the ECS Compound: Six bikes, five racers, an RV, two trailers, six tents, a fast guy in a bathrobe and three dogs.
Friday practice was a bit grey, but Saturday morning broke a clear and beautiful blue. It was time to go racing:
